Eternal golden boy and friend

Franz Klammer. What haven’t we already heard and read about him! 1001 stories and more, all about this Austrian skiing legend known for his wild and aggressive style, taking risks and balancing on the edge of disaster.

Those born early enough will fondly remember cheering on their hero when he bested the runner up by more than three seconds on the Lauberhorn downhill race. Or his spectacular gold-medal-winning run at the Olympics in Innsbruck, when he made up for lost time at the final stretch of the race. Unforgettable, also thanks to the film “Chasing the Line.”

It was his idea. His generous way to say thank you for the many occasions on which he’s been able to escape the hustle and bustle and relax in the casual ambience of our hotel. We were honored to be able to furnish a “Franz Klammer” room dedicated to our Alpine hero.

A distinctive ambience for special guests, a chance to maybe capture the genius loci – the essence of the place. Or simply to unwind like an Olympic champion.

A friend of our house and family for a long time. And always a welcome guest. When it gets too turbulent for Franz on the slopes, he likes to stop by for a relaxed beer, all alone in front of the TV in the lobby. Nobody bothers him, and nobody asks anything of him. The other side of the acclaimed star, the quiet that he appreciates and only finds here. It’s nice when a friendship that has been cultivated over the decades can stand the test of time.
